1997 JAGUAR XK8 4.0 COUPE GENUINE 39000 MILES
Full Jaguar/Specialist History/ 13 Stamps
Upgraded Steel Timing Chain Tensioner/Guides
One Of The Nicest XKs Of Its Era

The XK
Jaguar can do no wrong, the fastest selling sports car in Jaguars history,
eclipsing luminaries like the XK120 and the E-Type. The XK8 is beautiful &
fast. Big cats flow like dark liquid in moonlight, and so do the lines of
an XK8. You can buy other luxury touring coupes with similar performance,
but you won't find another that looks anything like this and that, really,
is the point of any Jaguar. If you are charmed by its looks, then there is
no alternative. Whether it be for touring or just wafting along country
lanes, very little comes close to the majestic ease that this car offers.

Without a doubt this is the cleanest straightest vehicle of its kind I have
owned in a long time. The 18 inch genuine Jaguar XK upgrade rims suit the
model so well with all tyres in excellent condition. This car has been owned &
driven by genuine enthusiast keepers. No Nikasil issue, no issues with the
gearbox or the diff, it has been updated with the alloys chain and tensioner
(with receipt) alongside a new water pump - to save the inevitable questions.
The most recent owner was a Jaguar club member and took his car to Jaguar
shows and has ensured it drives perfctly only trading it into us for another
Jaguar with 4 doors as his grandchildren were growing and the Xk was no
longer practical.

Service & Maintenance - Current Miles - 39400
The service contains no less than 13 service stamps despite the very low warranted
mileage, this sits in the Tan leather owners wallet alongside the drivers handbook
with some service receipts and an MOT history that is free from any advisories
over the years. The current MOT test expires 7th April 2019. The model is noted
from experiencing chain rattle due to plastic tensioners being used in the engineering
process that tend to break up over time and cause chain rattle. As a precaution an
updated alloy timing chain & tensioner kit was fitted in 2016 which included
includes latest generation timing chains, alloy tensioners & guide rails, new
installation gaskets & seals tensioner, this work completed by a well respected
Jaguar specialist in Glasgow, no more worries. The water pump was changed at this
time also and aside these well documented issues very little can go wrong with these
V8s. New front tyres have just been fitted and balanced.

The coachwork is in fine order, it has a deep wet look and the preparation work
was an utter joy, the paintwork is in an excellent state of preservation thanks
to regularly being treated to Zymol & Meguiars product conditioning, I had very
little to do to this car other than wash & high definition glaze. Moving aboard
the condition is excellent in every direction, as you can judge from the many
pictures. All in perfect working order, every switch and feature. No rust
anywhere in any of the reputed areas with the rear arches being in excellent
order as this is an area on XKs that can suffer.

The engine is superb, 0-60 in 6.5 secs and onto 155 mph. Demonstrates perfect
power to weight ration with superb balance landing it firmly on its feet. The
4.0-liter V8 produces 290 bhp, coupled to a seamless five-speed automatic
transmission. Driving the XK along twisty roads is wonderful. The steering
is very precise and provides good feel at speed. At the same time, the steering
remains light to the touch at low speeds, making driving around town and in
parking lots a bit easier. Handling is firm without being too harsh.

Classic car ownership is booming, this model has now bottomed out in my
opinion in price, there are early cars such as this with high mileages
trading at 3 to 5k, these cars are not in the same league as this and many of
them will never be proper again, mint examples are to be cherished and will
begin to rise in value. We need only to take a glance at the values of the
model predecessor's, the E type success is well documented, the XJS is now
gaining values rapidly, and it is always the early launch models that rise
first, pre 82 XJS models have literally doubled in value in the last 2 years
with all models holding strong. This is not just a nice car, its the very
best available of this model year. Jaguar's XK makes a statement when it rolls
onto the scene, considering when the slopes and angles were penned, like the E
type it was many years ahead of its time. It remains one of the prettiest cars
on the road and driving it is a hugely satisfying experience, though arriving
is its trump card. The addition of a cherished number would enhance the vehicle
further as it has an ageless look.
