Probably the best cars ever built, in that, they have stood the test of time and are now rightly receiving the credit they deserve in the classic world with a whole new audience not only is the 240 ultra-safe, your money will be safely invested. History One owner from new, zero previous keepers, evidenced by the original supplied old style V5. First registered and pre delivery inspected by Marks Of Ickenham in Middlesex to a Mr Marks the owner of the franchise. This was one of his own personal cars that he used sparingly for the first 17 years clocking up a mere 48,600 miles up until 2006 when it was placed in long term dry storage. Needless to say, it was extremely well maintained in that time as evidenced by 7 Volvo dealer services being present in the original service booklet. At some stage in 2006 it went into storage and other than being started periodically and storage position rotated, it never saw the light of day until Summer of this year. It’s in real time warp order, original paint and specification, never been altered in anyway, the panels are needless to say all original and have never been removed. The condition can be best described as being that of what you would have expected to see if you walked into a Volvo dealer in 1994 to buy yourself an approved used Volvo. Evidently after 13 years of hibernation it required a level of recommissioning, albeit light. The Firestone tyres were perished, and these were replaced with the exact same items to maintain the originality. The fluids were drained and replaced, new fuel tank and fresh fuel added, and the timing belt changed, it then went for MOT. It was advised that the subframe had a small amount of corrosion, however this has since been rubbed back and is found to be an overzealous comment on the part of the MOT tester as it was in fact just some scaling on the surface. It has also received a repair to the exhaust which had a small leak of gases, quite incredible given its period of storage. The car is turnkey ready to run, be shown or stored. It would be perfect for Summer Volvo club meets or classic car rallies, equally fitting nicely into any collection. The owners pack is present with the service booklet, radio manual, owner’s handbook, Volvo drivers guide, and owner’s insurance wallet. The 2 factory keys are also intact. Condition The car is really much too clean to be driving anywhere. Original factory paint finish everywhere. There is hardly even a stone chip to note, almost unmarked as new condition. The many images in the gallery will speak a thousand words. The underside is a good as the top, the floors and mechanical components all completely rot free. This is as clean an example one could ever hope to find. The bumper corners have some historical scrapes that do little to detract from the car’s appearance. The driver’s seat has just a hint of patina. The front number plate has some cracks in it, however, as its the original plate it would be silly to change it. Wheels & Tyres Original factory finish GLT model specific alloys in great condition, each one shod with matching Firestone rubber and centre caps. Spare wheel is an alloy of the same type with the same branded rubber. All tyres are matching Firestone Firehawks, all 5. Summary Unrepeatable unique once in a lifetime find in this condition, this is more or less an almost new Volvo 240 GLT.
