Setting this car widely apart from other E39s is the fact it’s not a flashy model that’s been passed about half a dozen times and painted as regular as a council corridor. To the contrary, a tasteful SE model with the silky smooth 6-cylinder engine, widely regarded as the best 6-cylinder engine ever made by the manufacturer mated with the excellent automatic gearbox. History Pre delivery inspected and first registered by Fawdington BMW dealer in Newcastle on 14.07.2000 and has always resided in the Newcastle area. The first owner’s tenure lasted many years until his death and it was then registered to his wife, who used it little, if at all. Eventually she was persuaded to sell it to a family friend whom owned it for a few years until he was unable to continue driving. In August this year he sold it to a classic car dealer in the town who had expressed an interest and that’s how I came to learn of it. The V5 shows 3 previous owners as a result, however, in reality only ever been driven by two mature gentlemen and has been garaged throughout the majority of its life. The MOT history reads very clean indeed, it’s been in constant use with no gaps to the yearly tests albeit very few miles being added each year. The service book details 8 service stamps, the first 5 of which are the supplying dealer up to 23718 miles, the last 3 being a local car care centre. The most recent MOT expired in June this year and I will of course be selling with a fresh test. I have been right over the car and driven it a few hundred miles and it performs superbly. Still wearing its original supplying dealer number plates and rear window decal, the originality of this car is beyond reproach and is certainly one of the lowest mileage E39 cars on the market. Cosmetically as the pictures bear testament to it is in excellent glossy order given its 19 years; the paint is superb with a wet look finish. Images I have tried to convey in the image gallery, its fine details such as unmarked seatbelts and bolsters, clean engine bay, boot, carpets and switchgear. The car drives sublime, it has a fine unused feel and an almost tangible depth to the engineering that is lost today. A study of the underside reveals a dry corrosion free car that is excellent. One that very much has to be seen and driven to be fully appreciated. This car has been maintained with a passion and carefully used cleaned and stored. All bushes and bearings feel as tight as the day it was new. The cabin remains 100 % box fresh with very clean leathers which should suit even the fussiest of tastes, the driver’s seat is unworn as pictured, the rear and boot area barely used, and the foot wells and rears of the seats and the mats are all clean and unspoiled. Everything in full working order. A car can cover a mile in different ways. Wheels & Tyres / Brakes Proper genuine 16 "rims, not cheap heavy poorly balanced imitations that compromise the ride. The wheels are in excellent condition looking to be original factory finish and do not require refurbishment. All the tyres are in good condition with thick tread, the brakes poull the car up evenly and progressively, it tracks correctly with no steering wobbles or balancing issues.
