1992 Porsche 944 S2 Coupe - Final Edition A1 Perfect Ambassador To The Model Fantastic OPC/Specialist History Last Owner 17 Years Pristine Cosmetics J632 RFJ First pre delivery inspected and registered by Evans Halshaw Porsche in Warwick on the 2nd April 1992 making this amongst the very last of the model. The V5 shows 6 previous owners which is lowish for a 944 and this is a matching numbers car with no accident damage that has covered a genuine warranted 111,000 miles. Highly original example with the temptation to alter anything being resisted over the years. The car has had long term ownership and been lavished with care, having over £10000 at least spent on it in the last few hundred miles alone. I must emphasise how rare it it is to find one of these in this dream condition, having dealt in 944 models for nigh on 20 years this is the best Guards Red example I have witnessed. Watch on YouTube Complete with a stunning paper history file, over 20 documented services, recent belt and water pump overhaul and most importantly a body restoration carried out to exacting standards with highly skilled labour (details below). As such, its ready to be used showed stored and enjoyed with zero worry as to the solidity of the chassis. What this car represents is a flashback in time to what one could have had back in the 90s, completely up to speed with mechanical servicing, fully motd, pristine paint, perfect tyres and brakes, and correct in so many fine details that only an aficionado to the model will appreciate. The old saying of you get what you pay for has never been more apt. The most recent owner’s tenure lasted 17 years and he has pampered it covering less than 9000 miles in that time keeping it garaged and maintaining perishable parts keeping a complete paper spread, with every receipt, and a complete MOT history right back to the first. The history is vast and covers virtually every aspect of motoring through the years. I have just sent it for an MOT, which was a straight pass and it’s in excellent order underside. It did receive an advise on a wheel bearing which I just had done, as the mot history is superb, why spoil a good thing. Body Restoration In November 2020 the body was attended to as areas were becoming tired. Now you can go to any old body shop and get a quick flash over or a short term fix, however if you want it done right you need to pay the right people, and this was an expensive job amounting to £6000, today the same body shop would be £15000. As such its back to new. The paint is bright, like it should be, no amount of polishing and cutting can get faded Guards Red back to this finish. The panels are poker straight with no filler and a perfect smooth seamless finish. The entire vehicle was stripped and painted by a perfectionist. There are some images of the resto in the gallery which included; - Both sides of car stripped and repaired - New inner outer and middle sills fitted - New front wing bottoms plated and fitted - New outer quarter sections - Inner quarter sections plated The work was completed by Jaqs body shop in Glasgow whose attention to detail is incredible. Once the car was painted it was fully undersealed and the underside waxed. Its honestly better than new, note the images through the vent into the sills on the B posts. Specification - Guards Red - Bridge Spoiler - D90 Alloys 16 " (brand new premium tyres) - Headlight washers code 288 - Headlight levelling system 605 - Automatic heating control 424 - Upgraded sound system - Classic Grey chairs dash & carpets - Windshield green graduated tint - Detachable roof panel, electrically openable 650 - Leather front seats with leatherette rear side 946 History & Servicing The red book features 20 stamps and all aspects are completely up to date. A summary of the most recent work is set out underneath. The paper file is massive. The work below is separate to the 6k invested in the body, the commitment to having it right is commendable. - Just had complete health check - Recent engine service - Timing belt, water pump, roller, balance shaft belt changed 2020 @ 106540 miles - New tyres - MOT and new wheel bearing - New windscreen and seal - New window scrapers to front windows - New boot seal inner and outer - New sunroof seal - New digital clock Condition The engine and gearbox are utterly fantastic, the motor is sparking breathing and fuelling superbly with excellent oil pressure cold through hot. It presents superbly in and out with beautiful, unmarked dashboard, door cards, interior and carpets. Peel back the veneer and peer further at the sills and underside and its better than new. Equally, the boot and engine bay display an original car that has clearly never been altered or bumped with factory seams in place. Its super clean, if you are into a detailed car then this is it, its like a new die cast toy. Many detailed images. The solid paintwork is truly stunning with no imperfections, I can find one stone chip thats touched in. A light detailing session reveals a truly terrific quality paintwork. All the black work and seals that can perish over time are in fine order. The interior carpets to boot and floor are as new. The leather is well fed and again in excellent condition having being well treated. The engine bay is a show all of its own. Peeling the carpet away in the boot reveals what looks like a new car. I have inspected the underside and was amazed at how clean and dry it is with no corrosion and needless to say, no leaks. Anyone would struggle to source a better 944 and one that is properly set up ready to be enjoyed. This car will pass any inspection and reckon it to suit even the fussiest of standards. Alloys/Tyres The original D90s are in excellent order with no buckles or repairs and retain a nice level of finish, wearing rare original gold crested metal centre caps, not some cheap plastic copies. I replaced the tyres which were all good and matching though they were old with new Uniroyal 5 Shark skin tyres which transform handling and grip. Vehicle Summary This 944 S2 is a pleasure to own, as it has been routinely maintained with any worn/perished parts replaced with genuine parts, so it has not been blunted by time. The paint is a delight, its sharp, and its in the details that only some of the images will convey, that set this one firmly ahead of the tired and worn commonplace examples. A model that continues to appreciate, we feel that this later than late example with complete service history and sensible mileage is a great classic investment. Furthermore, it drives superbly, and look how it sits over those arches.
