1989 Porsche 944 S2 Alpine / Black Leather / Carrera Cup II's Sports Seats 146k & 6 keepers Huge File of History HPi Clear & Accident Free 12 Months MoT Recent Belts & Fresh Service Alpine White L90E. This is a great colour that really works on a 944, I love it, my own 944 for keeps is this very colour. Add black leather, tick the Sports seats option, roll it in some Cup II's and you got something refreshingly different.. and it sits just lovely. Ignore the mileage on these cars, it's just a number. The wise man buys on condition and history when it comes to a classic Porsche and I cannot think of a more appropriate example than this one as case in point. 6 Former keepers and it has 146k, look at the condition. Same keeper for the last 14 years and dry stored in this time, which is at least half of it's life it has not been getting wet. It also has one of the nicest, freshest engine bays I have seen on a 944 with any mileage. Service & maintenance Excellent large history file presented in an A4 presentation binder, all in chronological order. All the early MoT's are present along with lots of bills and invoices. Lots of information, too much to list. The owners pack is present with the owners manuals and the all important service booklet. There are 14 stamps in the booklet up to 2001. Last change of keeper was in 2003. This chap kept it over 14years and cared for it well however did not have the book stamped and kept up to date, however there are invoices present, intervals as below. There has been little use over the last decade, therefore the timing belt has just been changed and it has just been serviced and will sell with full MoT. Just look at it! Get up close and there is the odd age related mark - mainly stonechips. It is my opinion that this car has seen very little paintwork compared to others. When it came to us it appeared to be almost entirely original, we have done some remedial paintwork and touching up in places but it remains with much of it's original finish, which of course is highly desirable as the glass like factory finish is hard to replicate. However, this does mean there are some stone chips, mainly to the nose and pu and these have been painstakingly touched in where necessary. The exterior rubbers and trims are all in good order without perishing. Shut lines around the front all line up perfectly and the rear is perfectly square all indicative of a zero bump/paint free history. The stone guards on the wheel arches have a patina and the car would benefit aesthetically without them but they are original. Cabin The cabin has fared very well and has not had a hard life, black Sport seats with deep bolsters are a desirable feature. Carpets are clean and youthful with no ragged edges or burst seams. The LCD clock is in working order. Steering wheel has no dramatic wear and looks great as does the gear knob..these simple items really let a cabin down if they are worn. Roof lining has zero swell or sag behind the sunroof or otherwise. There are zero cracks on the dashboard. Driver seat bolster is unworn though there has been a repair to the piping. Every button and switch works. No trim is missing or broken. Nothing is ragged or needs replaced. Hatch Open the hatch and the boot carpet is in good order, boot floor and rear panel is nice and fresh, no previous repairs and no corroded wells. Jack and compressor is missing. Spare wheel and toolkit are present. Build and option sticker is present. The lock mechanism and fittings all have a youthful yellow zinc appearance. Engine Bay This is one of the freshest engines I have seen on (an unrestored) 944. Lovely bright white in all the nooks and crannies, The rocker cover has it's original finish in amazing condition, I have never seen such a nice original rocker cover and distributer. There are bright flashes of red and blue (clips, wires, hoses) that you just don't normally see for dirt and patina. The washer bottle looks like it could be new for example. Very clean and remarkably fresh. The underside is just as good a story. Dry stored for at least the last 14years which is at least half of it's entire lifetime, it has not been getting wet. Nice and solid and no leaks, what more can one ask. Wheels & Tyres Carrera Cup II alloys are 17" and in good order with premium tyres with lots of tread remaining. Fronts 235.45.17 Rears 255.40.17 One of the wheels has a spiderweb patina to the lacquer, each finished with black/silver crested centre cap. The car sits just lovely on this size of wheel. Summary A really nice example of the model in the one of the best colours. It has miles but has been cared for and preserved in dry condition at least half it's life and this shows. It retains much of its original finish and is in a condition that only a mad man would not be delighted with. There is a superb file of history and it has just been serviced and the belts replaced. It wants for nothing to go now but there is also room for improvement to take it to the next level if the new keeper sees fit. £8,944 |
