Foreword
Its not often that a car of this age is accompanied with such an
in depth
service record. Equally, even less one with such a complete
story with
originality & provenance. Every receipt looks to have been filed
from new,
totaling over £32000. The original certificate of authenticity
is
present, detailing the original spec and suppling dealer, these
are no
longer available to order from Porsche.
The service book has an incredible 43 stamps, 28 of them engine
services
and 15 other campaigns.
Historic bills of sale, every V5 from new detailing who & where.
Every MOT from
3 yrs onwards. Still wearing Merlin Porsche rear window decal
from when
they sold it at one year old, and yes, the bill of sale for that
also.
The original Porsche silver sales brochure together with options
catalogue.
If there is a more detailed history, I would like to see it!
Both keys, immaculate toolkit roll, jack, spare wheel, Porsche
compressor,
& luggage blind.
First registered 28.04.1993 by Stratstone Porsche. This is a
matching
numbers car as it left the factory and has never been recorded
as having been in any accidents, has clean title and HPi.
Highly original with spec as it left the factory. Note, correct
offset alloys, all the correct amber lenses and side repeaters,
all
factory labels correct. Shows seven previous owners.
Service History - 43 Stamps - £32000 Of Bills
The service booklet is entire, as is the history, a whole
evenings reading.
The last major service was carried out June 25 with a complete
health-check,
its runs wonderfully. A summary of campaigns undertaken within
the last
10000 miles are opposite.
Alloys/Tyres
The alloys are in great cosmetic condition, and the tyres are
all matching
Khumos recently replaced.
Condition
The metallic paint work is truly stunning with only the odd
incidental chip.
nice finish and poker straight panels. The interior leathers &
carpets
are super clean and inviting with next to no wear indicators as
expected at
such low mileage. Lovely fitted mats with deep pile.
The dash is in excellent condition and all switchgear works as
intended.
The headlining is straight.
The roof pops in and put with no gear or motor issues. The
remote boot works
properly, etc etc.
The engine bay is truly immaculate.
Peeling the carpet away in the boot reveals how original it
truly is.
I have inspected the underside and was amazed at how clean and
dry
its presents with no corrosion, an historic oil weep being
remedied.
An Appreciating Model To Keep
The pinnacle of Porsche's continuous development of its original
4cyl
water cooled front engine, even today for the purist driver it
remains
a sensation almost unequaled in any other Sports car. The 968 is
the
ultimate evolution of that classic formula that had been refined
since
the late 70s. There is no substitute for condition, or history.
Ultimately this is rather a scarce Porsche model, and they
currently represent
massive value for money in the classic world alongside other
brands that
cannot compete in terms of quality or depth of engineering, the
968 was
and is a fabulous historic Porsche.
