1988 Porsche 944 Turbo Coupe Silver
Rose Show Class Condition Extensive Service History Rare Air Conditioning The Holy Grail 944 An Appreciating Model To Treasure Water cooled is on the move, the Porsche used car market is as hot as this car looks and it is very rare to find this model let alone in this virtual concourse condition, both the history and care is nothing short of splendid. A turn key ready to perform Sports car that will fit into any collection or be the main focal point of classic ownership. First registered and delivered on 28.04.1988 by Ian Anthony Porsche in Wilmslow. The service records make very good reading being maintained by OPC and other independents with a total of 18 individual service stamps. Accompanying the stamped service book is a folder of bills. The most recent keepers have been lifelong Porsche enthusiasts and the car has attended regular shows. You will not find a cleaner more original Silver Rose anywhere, it puts all other 944 examples to shame. Chassis : WPOZZZ95ZJN101051 Engine : 47J00860 Paint Code : LM3Z Options - 567 Windshield green graduated tint - 573 Air conditioner - 593 Anti-lock brake system - 685 Divided rear seat - 758 Special model 944 Turbo 1988 - 990 Seats all cloth Silver Rose Simply an extremely hard car to try and source these days and now deservedly has serious classic status. The Silver Rose model made in very limited numbers is essentially as marketed a true race performance car for the street, despite the some 28 yrs that have lapsed since incarnation this 944 model can still out accelerate, out handle and brake many modern high performance coupes. Based on the very agile Cup Turbo competition model the Turbo S retains most of the enhanced performance eqpt and capabilities of the race car whilst providing an elevated level of standard comfort features & amenities. The Turbo S will accelerate to 60 in 5.6 secs and onto 162 mph. Handling honed and sharpened on the track translates to exemplary response and agility on the street, the excellent chassis was modified over the older model to handle the extra power of the S engine, firmer springs & shocks, thicker front stabiliser bar, and more rigid suspension bushings combine to deliver sportier handling that is remarkably taut, precise and responsive. The gearbox features toughened 1st and 2nd gears, an external oil cooler for added longevity and a limited slip diff. Totally stock with no deviations just as it should be right down to the original Blaupunkt head unit with carry case. Recent Maintenance The car wants for nothing looking and driving exactly as it should thanks to knowledgeable enthusiastic owners and those that are prepared to spend. The engine power is very impressive and this is a sharp Turbo to drive with quick pick up, not surprising as the engine bay is superbly detailed and starts quickly and is amongst the quietest smoothest running Turbos I have owned. The all important cam belt and balance belt were changed last at 88983 miles by Tom Ferguson Porsche, at this time he also treated the car to a major service with spark plug change and all the filters. Also recently the front brake calliper's have been rebuilt by the brake caliper specialist in Nottingham. A recent clutch slave cylinder and lower wishbone fitted. The clutch is light to the pedal and the gearbox like a knife through butter. All component's are harmonised and working perfectly, no disappointments and the rare air con blows hard and cold.- Condition The seats and bolsters look like one year old, no kidding, as does the dash and door cards, as do the carpets and all the switchgear, the conditions defies age. The paintwork is truly stunning with little to no imperfections appearing all original. A light detailing session reveals a truly immaculate example with quality finish and no disappointing cosmetics. The alloys refinished recently are flawless. All the black work and seals that can perish over time are in fine order. The interior carpets to boot and floor are as new. The dash is in perfect condition and all switchgear works as intended. The engine bay is extremely impressive and show worthy which is the general theme with the whole car. Inside the arches are a visual delight. Pop the vents out on the B posts and you can see witness what lies beneath, truly stunning top and underneath. Peeling the carpet away in the boot reveals how original it truly is as the images all suggest. I have inspected the underside and was amazed at how clean and dry it is with no corrosion and needless to say, no leaks. Anyone would struggle to source a better classic car and one that is properly set up ready to be enjoyed. This car will pass any inspection and reckon having handled literally hundreds of 944s this will suit even the fussiest of standards, and if you are looking for a finished article to take to shows etc then this is it.
