Audi book pack with all manuals and service booklet, a thick folder of bills detailing lots of love and care. To find a B3 model such as this is extremely rare, stunning, low mileage and original example, DVLA site details very few of these cars on the road. He owned it for several years and upon his demise the title passed over to his son who equally loved and cared for it. It was garaged by this family throughout their tenure of ownership. In May 2018 they finally decided to part with it to its fourth owner a Mr Cairns from Ayrshire who was a lifelong Audi enthusiast. After owning it for one year his attentions turned to restoring other cars in his possession, and by his own admission this Audi needed nothing doing to it and the excitement he sought was in improving old classics. The V5 shows 3 previous keepers. Servicing & Maintenance The accompanying ring binder of bills contains an MOT history that dates back to 1995 at 7682 miles. The service book details 7 entries with a paperwork record taking up the slack thereafter. Always well serviced with regular documented oil changes, spark plug changes and recent work to brake pipes. The timing belt was changed by the previous owner just to be prudent. Currently it has no known faults or areas of improvement., The underside is in superb condition with needless to say no welding or corrosion. The B3 An Audi of this vintage is for someone who really appreciates the nature of it, the build quality is class leading, the longevity of the materials used in the manufacturing process are absolute top quality, and its a very well-engineered package, a joy to drive and a unique driving experience. The mechanicals in this model are stuff of legends, we hear story’s of monstrous mileages without overhauls, with such a very low mileage the engine has lots of power and feels barely run in, the engine bay presents as new. Finding one today is difficult — and locating an unmodified example that has never been bumped or the panels removed is nigh impossible. The 90’s all-business cabin is pure Germano-functional luxury. The interior also contains a trio of gauges made by VDO that were common to the era’s autobahn missiles. It’s safe to say that the 80 2.0E was conceived at a time when Audi was struggling to find its identity — the brand was still buzzing from its domination of the World Rally Championship, but it was also trying to make inroads into the luxury-car market. Of this existential struggle, there is no better example than the 80 and 90 models. The 2.0E The 2.0E motronic fuel injected engine was paired only with front-wheel drive, and a five-speed manual transmission. Developing 115 bhp, it does not sound much however this car really fly’s, it feels like a GTi. The four-cylinder demands that you keep the tachometer needle aimed high for press on thrills, there’s a stiff spot in the accelerator pedal’s travel that tells you when you’ve begun to open the secondary throttle butterfly — and that’s when the real music starts. Investment - Time has stood still for this Audi A very special Audi 80, all original, never been meddled with. These vehicles have begun to reach iconic status and are contemporary classics already, to have this impressive and desirable low mileage low keepers’ car is a treat and I have debated whether to keep it long term, if I don’t get the money for it that’s what will happen. It really belongs in a museum or part of a serious collection. The many detailed images should leave no doubt as to what we have here. At time of writing I can find only one other B3 2.0e advertised, this car has 290,000 miles, poor bodywork with mismatching paint and asking price of £1900, make up your own mind how exclusive this is today. £5,999 |
