What a delight we have here, if you properly understand the
evolution of the usable performance car over the last 40 years,
then you will appreciate this as being near the top in terms of
influence and accessibility. This is the blueprint of the fast
Audi full stop, and its also becoming exceedingly scarce to find
in n/a format, never mind one with a story and pedigree of this
stature.
First registered and pre delivery inspected by Audi in Kirkcaldy
on 01.08.1986. Showing 1 previous keepers, with the most recent
owner purchasing from David Morrison in Kirkcaldy in 1994.
Wearing its original plates supplied by the dealer in 94, the
tax disc holder and even the keyring, its highly original.
Complete with factory blue book pack, owners manual, service
booklet and a raft of historic receipts. Fitted colour coded
blue carpet mats.
Its now MOT exempt and will be tax exempt April 2027.
Having been a loved car stored properly in a warm dry
environment away from the elements the cosmetics are lovely. All
panels are in excellent condition, as is all the trim work glass
etc. The interior is time warp, with no wear indictors, all
velour in excellent condition, as is the dash, steering wheel
and gear shift gator.
The vehicle drove back from Edinburgh some 50 miles and starts
first time running like a watch. The underside is extremely
solid, its a delight to drive park and own, the admiration it
receives is other worldly.
Condition wise scores very high. The interior has no faults, nor
does the engine bay, look at how clean the engine legs are, the
front subframe has recently been stripped & powder coated. All
tyres are matching Bridgestone's.
The passenger door has a small rust blister, the nearside rear
light unit has a few crack's though is not showing daylight. The
stereo does not currently work. One of the alloy centre caps is
missing.
The B2.
These non turbo cars are virtually non-existent now to source, a
glance at the market revels that Turbo models are now 35-50k for
a decent one, and 20-25k buys you a basket case, and there are
plenty to choose from. The base is therefore
an endangered species in the UK, looking into Europe does not
turn up many unspoiled examples, just a lot of high prices.
This is an attractive s period correct 86 MY example of the
evocative eighty’s coupe well presented. There is a compliance
and comfort to the suspension and ride, no matter the surface,
and more importantly a connection to the road that you can
tangibly feel, a reminder to when cars felt soulful.
Investment - Time has stood still for this Audi
Becoming a unicorn, all original, never been meddled with at all
having been owned by the one Audi enthusiasts since new. These
vehicles have begun to reach iconic status and are contemporary
classics already. Its one of those cars that just oozes old
school appeal and looks just as good sitting still in the
garage, it’s an utter pleasure to own, in a class of its own. |
