| 1976 VW Beetle 1600 RHD Rare Air Conditioning White/Cream Trim Herbie Livery Great Investment 76,000 Genuine Miles The Icon Style, hard to achieve and even harder to maintain, this car oozes it. An automotive icon that’s eternally cool, the ‘Poor Man’s Porsche’ with a similar air-cooled, rear-mounted boxer engine and trans axle driving the rear wheels. The car which really started the retro craze and the Beetle makes an ideal starter classic. She drives like a dream, the rumble of a vintage engine and the need to actually press the brake to stop, makes your heart race. I love the manual window cranks with side windows, and the lack of fancy gadgets inside... pure nostalgia. Genuine JDM Classic - DDE 236P Manufactured 01-05-1976 this is the more powerful 1600 cc car with all the attributes the later cars possess. Imported to the UK 01-12-15 not even a year ago, this Beetle is in a highly solid state of condition and reckon that the best conditioned classics come from this part of the world. This is a genuine Japanese domestic market classic vehicle sourced for a customer with high expectations and imported direct from Japan, therefore has only one UK keeper. The Japanese climate is literally in the sweet spot for classic cars. The climate is not only warm with no salting of the roads in Winter, it is also extremely dry without the intense heat of other countries allowing for the perfect environment that does not contribute to deterioration, and does not age like normal vehicles do elsewhere. The strict govt test known as the " shaken", is the strictest of tests to an extremely high standard, as the cars get older the tests get stricter which creates an environment where vehicles are not generally kept more than 6/7 years, making classic cars rare indeed. Finally, foreign cars such as these carried a large premium when imported to Japan when new, and deemed special from day one. Japanese owners have a culture of keeping special cars a very long time, meaning enthusiastic ownership. Original factory colour and not a repaint. Condition Mechanically excellent, the 1600 has a wonderful soundtrack. All running gear working as it should and its a superb driver you could drive anywhere, never failing to start. Chrome wheel trims shod with a matching set of Bridgestone Sneaker tyres of the exact factory spec. All chrome is perfect and all panel gaps are bang on. It is lock fast with 3 keys. The body is rot free with a bone dry underside and was kept garaged by UK owner. Odd incidental mark on the very original body, that you would normally associate with a 10 year old car, not 40. Interior very tidy with minimum wear. Full MOT with no advise, initially done by the supplying UK dealer and then all of 11 miles later by the new owner as he wanted to have his people do it, thats the type of chap he was. The sole UK owner was a professional man, who in his youth had been given a Yellow Beetle by his Father to allow him to get around whilst studying at Glasgow University in the mid 70s. He never forgot the car or the times, and for nostalgia bought this car just under a year ago. He has never really used it by his own account, it just sat in the garage with other cars. It totally ready to be used and deserves to be shown and admired. - Fully UK registered with period number DDE 236P - March 2017 MOT £6,500 |
