In December 2012 it moved from the company stock into the personal collection of the Director. The folder is thick with bills and is hugely confidence inspiring. In fine working order. The T2 The T2 is the ultimate expression of enhanced comfort and convenience, and as such is a great devourer of distances. Much of what went into the earlier pre 66 cars is still very much present in the Bentley, just a little easier to live with, whilst being immediately recognized as a classic design in the Rolls Royce/Bentley tradition. The engine is the same biblical 6.8 litre pushrod V8 that served the Shadow and the Silver Cloud III before it. Pushing the go pedal at standstill will elicit an antediluvian sound similar to the rumblings of distance thunder. Tilt the indicator and its the same click clack you heard in your grandfather’s clock. The penny drops the moment you enter the car and look out over a long bonnet that seems as if it was derived straight from the Silver Ghost. Climbing aboard the interior is akin to stepping into the drawing room of a members only gentleman’s club of a world long ago. All these acute experiences make every other so called luxury car feel stupid and pointless by comparison. The Drive This Bentley drives faultlessly under way, sounds from wind and road barely infiltrate. This model marks a hugely impressive feat in noise cancelation engineering even by today’s standards. The vehicle is a delight to drive sitting perfectly on all four corners and ensures that you, the driver, are completely removed from the act. Every action feels like a request rather than something you yourself execute. Expecting performance from a Spirit is not only defeating its stately purpose, but it’s like trying to get a rise out of a British butler, he’ll laugh politely but never share in the joke. Its almost like having a polite middle man for everything, whether it’s the long travel of the directional stalk, the friction-free motion of the gear change lever, the ease with which you use your fingertip to adjust the thin-rimmed helm or even the application of throttle, your hope is that in each instance the desired result will transpire. A unique experience. Condition Timeless lines, the wheel arches and sills are rot free, the body has no panel damage or rust, the overall condition of the car is far better than any others I have seen. You just cant find them this well looked after, there are cheap ones out there but they will be nothing but trouble. You can drive this straight away with no known issues, everything works even the door mirrors and seats. The engine bay is clean and all fluids are correct with no drips or leaks. All the door caps and dash in really super condition as is underneath which has been waxoyled regular. Subject to a minor restoration to the body back in 2003 which is documented with photographic images. Cabin The quality will remain long after the price has been forgotten. The interior is overstuffed with wood and leather furniture. The Connolly hide is thick. The deep pile carpeting gently caresses the soles of your shoes, and the gloss of the box wood on burl inlays reflect a mastery of craftsmanship. The Comfortable contoured power seats are just as comfortable as your favorite armchair. A sumptuously luxurious interior with natural grain leather and hand-tailored to perfection. Its hand-crafted veneers rival that of fine home furnishings. The T2 leaves no room for compromise – from the hand-sculpted radiator grille to its matched veneers. Wheels/Tyres Avon Turbosteel all around, the definitive tyre of choice and they are all matching and thick with tread. The Wheel finishers in excellent condition. * UK Delivery available * Mot December 2019 * Owners pack & drivers manual * Battery isoltaor switch * Totally hpi clear * Guaranteed warranted mileage * Toolkit * Spare wheel Summary An opportunity to enter the classic car scene with a bang, and with a car that impresses on every level. An glance at the recent market tells me that the T2 is still around the bottom if its price curve, it has failed to move at any rate if at all with values of other arguably far inferior models, which is surely not a situation that will continue for much longer. The day will arrive when a historic Bentley such as this will be worth a lot of money and this car represents an opportunity to get in on the scene with a highly together example with zero depreciation and perhaps a return even in the short term. Get hold of a nice T2 saloon in a good colour, and waft about knowing that the world is wondering who you might be, and what you might stand for. Whilst you’re doing so; just reflect on this. Enigmatic is supposed to be the new cool. Doesn’t that make the T series the one of the coolest cars in the world? £11,999 |
