The Boxster Concept
Since its launch in 1996, the Boxster has seen of all comers.
Driving

Boxster - New Generation 987
The second-generation Porsche Boxster arrived with even more
self-assertion,
more power and more performance. While only carefully
re-modelled in
its contours, Porsche’s mid-engined sports car is significantly
wider
on the road than the 986. Larger wheels and a wider track
accentuate the further
enhanced design of the body. At the same time these improvements
symbolize
the increase in power, the 2.7-litre six-cylinder in the Boxster
now
developing maximum output of 240 bhp. The car will accelerate to
60 mph
in 6.2 seconds and has a top speed of 159 mph, but is more
fuel-efficient
all the same, averaging 29.4 mpg in combined cycle. The car
shares
almost all of the parts of the 911 997.
They don't all come with as good a specification as this, which
will go a
long way to holding a strong residual value. The Carrera S
alloys are a
must have to set the visual appeal. Also, the Carrera steering
wheel finishes
the appeal of the cabin.
History
This has been extremely well looked after and is complete and

On The Road
Mechanically superb and fully tried and tested, with a smooth
quiet engine,
no areas of concern. The 2.7 being one of the most vocal units
in any car,
beyond 3000 rpm it is a superb howl. Handling is as exemplary as
expected
from a Porsche that boasts near perfect weight distribution. The
depth of
engineering is instantly apparent not to mention enormously
confidence
inspiring. The hood dropping electrically in a matter of moments
whenever
you take the fancy. |
