In constant use since 1956 on the Isle of Drambuie

This old Defender has been in continuos regular use since it was
first registered in 1956 and has been regulary maintained by
Land Rover specialist Alex Lindsay. It's had a replacement
chassis some years ago which remains in solid condition and it
reatins many of it's original parts ans features. This has been
a working vehicle which starts immediatly on the button
(literally) and runs very well and has been over some of the
most demanding landscapes in the country, regulary.
It was first registerd new in 1956 and was bought in early 1960
by
Campbell Semple, a Surgeon and Inventor, and used on the
family croft on the banks of Loch Drambuie where it was mainly
used to traverse some rough roughs leading to
the
croft. Interestingly, the character of 'Godwin Baxter' in
the film 'Poor Things' was based on Dr Semple. Loch Drambuie,
along with Campbell's experimental wind turbines are famous
features in the area.
In 2016 Campbells' daughter, Sally, inherited the Land Rover and
in 2017 was a delegate for Highland Council, hence the 'Vote
Sally' text on each side of the truck.
It has been regulary maintained by the above specialist and is a
vehicle that you can use right now. Sally drove this to us from
the north of Scotland just last week, testament to it's
reliability and her confidence in the vehicle was not misplaced.
