1991 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 1800 CC GL 4 + E GL 5 DR BIG BUMPER Beautiful Original Non Restored Survivor 21 Stamp History - 41000 Miles 3 Previous Owners - Family Owned From New Very Rare Terra Cotta Pearl Effect 93 HD Images available on website Once a common place sight on the roads of Europe and today arguably the most admired and coveted 80s and 90s hatch of all. The sands of time have ensured that literally very few examples remain in their original unspoiled condition, and of those few even fewer will present correctly. This final year big bumper car is a rarity, and not simply because of the Red Pearl paint, or the condition, or even the mileage, Gtis are plentiful, however lesser models were less cared for and coveted and as such very few of them remain. As such this car is becoming very collectable and is ready for this season of shows. H798 RMS Pre delivery inspected and first registered by Carron Motors of Falkirk on 14-3-91 to a Mr Durham of Falkirk. Finished in unusual Pearl Red, central locking and alloy wheels, these being the standout options on the car. Used sparingly by husband and wife they both drove the car into advancing years. Mr Durham then died, and the ownership passed to his wife, she continued to use the car though even less as is evidenced by MOT mileage entry’s. Upon here demise it then passed to her son, who barely used it at all. In May 2018 he decided to sell it onto an old friend of the couple who was himself 80 years old, however fit and healthy and a retired old school engineer who like to tinker with things in his garage. Mr Wyper became the 4th owner - albeit the first one outwith the original first owner’s family. Up until this stage the Golf had always been garaged and he continued to do so. Mr Wyper had plenty time on his hands, decided to set about replacing and replenishing various aspects of the car, these are listed below. Specification - Terra Cotta Pearl Red - BBS RA 14" alloy wheels - Power Steering - Manual windows - Manual Sunroof - Electric mirrors - Central locking - Tinted glass - Heated rear window Chassis - WVWZZZ1GZMW416807 Engine - GU343155 Paint - LC3Z Servicing Original book pack with driver’s handbook and service booklet detailing 21 engine services. A raft of previous mots also. As mentioned recently the Golf has had a right good going over and is totally set up to run. Serviced for a long time by Carron Motors VW, and when they closed then by Western VW in Grangemouth. Latterly by two respected specialists in German cars, the car has rarely ever been out of the Falkirk area in Central Scotland. In around 2013 the Lady passed away and since then had lay up out of service for around 5 years, it got started and moved around however, the servicing stopped until Mr Wyper bought it in 2018 and to a certain extent went about recommissioning various aspects of it. 14.03.91 Carron Motors VW - Pre delivery inspection 19.03.92 Carron Motors VW - 4040 miles 12.03.93 Carron Motors VW - 7244 miles 22.02.94 Carron Motors VW - 9324 miles 20.02.95 Carron Motors VW - 11230 miles 05.02.96 Carron Motors VW - 12209 miles 04.02.97 Carron Motors VW - 13184 miles 14.02.93 Carron Motors VW - 14915 miles 03.02.99 Carron Motors VW - 17505 miles 02.02.00 Western VW VAG - 20164 miles 21.02.01 Western VW VAG - 22781 miles 31.01.02 Western VW VAG - 25307 miles 30.01.03 Western VW VAG - 27270 miles 28.01.04 Western VW VAG - 29196 miles 27.01.05 Pinnacle - 30998 miles 21.01.06 Pinnacle - 32745 miles 25.01.07 John Martin - 34411 miles 15.01.08 John Martin - 35695 miles 28.01.09 John Martin - 36616 miles 22.01.10 John Martin - 37705 miles 26.02.11 John Martin - 38618 miles 09.02.12 John Martin - 39629 miles Current mileage is circa 41,950. Recent work undertaken since May 2018 ; - Engine oil and filter - Timing belt fitted - Spark plugs changed - New front shock absorbers - New anti-roll bar bushes - Brakes totally overhauled - New brake backing plates fitted - New rubber brake hoses - New tyres all round - New exhaust system fitted - Underside extensively waxoyled (its in amazing order underneath) Condition It's not a restored car, its an original survivor so examination of all the gaps and crevices will reveal a wholly original example. It has spent the majority of its life sitting in a garage. Original supplied dealer plates still adorn the front and rear. Every single piece of glass is etched with the number plate, the windscreen is still the original item. The dashboard and all plastics present as new. It has the original stereo. The boot is like new as is the parcel shelf. The engine bay has been heavily coated in waxoyl into the engine legs and inner wings so it has zero rusting or corrosion in these areas. Cabin The interior is clean tight and bone dry and has the feel of a clean cared for interior with perfect dash, headlining, door cards, chairs and carpets. Next to no wear at all to any switchgear, gear shift, steering wheel etc, time warp car. Never been smoked in, smells like new. No kids dogs or muck in it all, never even been eaten in according to the last keeper. The Drive It sits perfectly on its standard suspension set-up, with no clunks or knocks either, just a solid firm and well absorbed ride. Having owned a few, I can comment that all old engines drive differently. This one is fast, don't ask me why, it just fly’s compared to all the other ones I have driven. It’s all totally stock but really well tuned and has lots of torque in any gear at any time. This is an all systems go car ready to be enjoyed when the mood and the weather allow. The car moves as one whole piece, perhaps even better than I remember reaffirming that subsequent generations have robbed the car of its dynamic feel and driver enjoyment. If you want practicality, performance and strength in one affordable package, few cars will deliver like the Mk2 and is easily the most practical and sensible everyday modern classic in its price range. * Mot 7th April 2020 * Totally hpi clear * Guaranteed warranted mileage * Complete toolkit * Spare wheel * Owners wallet with all original handbooks £5,499 |
