Sensational Service History A Pampered Investment Car 85000 Miles Chassis - wvwzzz1gzlw732884 Engine No - kr150372 D O R - 05 09 1990 Reg - H123 WFG Specification - Pearlescent Pearl Grey [paint code: LA7U] - Original BBS RA alloy wheels - Rainbow Sports cloth upholstery & door cards - Power Steering - Manual windows - Manual Sunroof - Electric mirrors - Central locking - Tinted glass - Graduated tinted front window - Front foglights - Heated rear window - Onboard trip computer First registered the 5th May 1990 by Caffyns VW in Goring By Sea in Sussex, with the pre delivery inspection performed the day before that with them. There is a full paper trail relating to the first keeper ( a Mr Richards) and his ordering and purchase of the car which makes great reading. It includes all the original correspondence inviting the first owner to the cars launch at VW dealer, and then his subsequent confirmation of order and all details that passed between them in ordering/specifying registering the car. The factory sales brochure is still present and even the VAG factory picking slip. Servicing & Bills - 19 Service Stamps - Complete MOT History Total paper spread start to finish with a complimenting complete MOT history back to 1993 when first eligible. The folder is thick with three inches of bills as pictured and is hugely confidence inspiring. In fine working order, in preparation of sale I have just given the engine a complete service with all belts and fluids being changed as detailed below, this at quite a cost however the car is now set up for years to come, and all receipts have been added to the file, the car has covered less than 20 miles since. - Timing belt - New water temp switch - Water pump - Distributor cap - PAS belt - Ribbed belt - Coolant changed - New cold start control - Tensioner - Brake fluid changed - Screenwash - Oil & filter - Fuel filter - New water thermostat - Vacuum pipes - Air filter - Spark plugs changed - New HT lead set - Mixture set - Rotor arm £0000s In Documented Bills The history is more than just impressive. Its a huge file in chronological date order with subject headers and yearly dividers. The paperwork goes right back to 1991 when the vehicle is less than a year old and flows in a consistent motion all the way to the current date, if service histories were worth money this would command a fortune. Every bush and suspension component has been checked, all the brakes exhaust etc are in excellent condition. The car is rock solid underneath with no welding or accident damage and a tidy original looking underside. The rear wheel bearings have been replaced in as many miles as has the oil sump with a new one and a new engine mount, nothing has been overlooked and everything has been kept standard. Originality + Other Information Comes complete with original VAG owner's wallet with its full compliment of owner's manual, stamped up service book, and other VAG booklets. The considerable history as mentioned above is to be cherished in its own right and added to as much as possible. I can confirm that it has had no engine rebuilds, replacement gearboxes, head gasket failures etc. Only badly driven and poorly serviced cars needed work like this, they were so heavily over engineered that 85000 miles with care is barely run in. Keen observers of the many images will note that this GTi still wears its original dealer supplied number plates and rear window decal, a lovely touch that is so rare. There are two sets of keys including the original special 2-part "16V" key complete with it's cover on a thread, an original early 1990's immobilizer is fitted with two fobs, plus one other spare. The VAG codes sticker is present in the boot compartment indicating that the rear has not been involved in a shunt. Similarly all under bonnet stickers are present, along with original VAG stamped front wings with the proper underseal beading at the top edge confirming no frontal accident. Original glass throughout the car etched with the H123 WFG number information. The unaltered condition is completed with first class condition spare wheel and tool kit and perfect parcel shelf. The Drive Totally stock parts have been used in servicing therefore the car drives 100 % as VW intended. It sits perfectly on its standard suspension set-up, with no clunks or knocks either, just a solid firm and well absorbed ride. This is an all systems go car ready to be enjoyed when the mood and the weather allows. The car moves as one whole piece, the gearbox and steering feel box fresh and its literally fantastic to drive, perhaps even better than I remember reaffirming that subsequent generations have robbed the car of its dynamic feel and driver enjoyment. Exterior Condition Timeless subtle Pearl Grey available for only model years 90-91. It is detailed to the highest of standards with zero blemishes or chips worth comment. Safe to say this example will satisfy even the fussiest of tastes and is of as high a quality that any used car of its years could ever hope to be in, it presents literally as it would have at 3 or 4 years old. The wheels are also in first class order inkeeping with the standards set elsewhere. The previous owners have been concerned with detail. The boot area is as new and you peel the carpet back to find everything is showroom condition. The engine is remarkably tidy, as is all the considerable black work around the body, there is dare I say it next to no level of improvement in any area. Zero rust, perfect sills, boot, bottom of doors. I have fitted smoked lights and spots and are brand new. The original Hella lights are all present and are in good condition with no chips or splits, I just fancied changing the look to sharpen it up. Cabin The interior is in time warp condition, bone dry and has the feel of a clean cared for interior with perfect dash, headlining, door cards, chairs and carpets. Next to no wear at all to any switchgear, gear shift, steering wheel etc, in reality these interiors were designed to take some punishment, which makes a pampered cars interior all the more special. It scores a virtual 10 with me on the cabin. Alloys/Tyres Matching as new Vredstein tyres all round with immaculate BBS rims that have been professionally re coated by me due to minor imperfections. * Mot May 2017 (no advise) * 2 transponders - Toad Sterling (Thatcham Approved) * Immobilizer fitting certificate * Owners pack & drivers manual * Totally hpi clear * Guaranteed warranted mileage * Current & historic HPi searches * Complete toolkit * Spare wheel The Definitive GTi The most admired and coveted hot hatch of all time? For me it certainly was, the big bumper 16 valver was as an elusive car then as it is today. The second generation had one hell of an act to follow but turned out to be the superior car to drive over its predecessor, better packaged, quicker and with far more reassuring brakes. If you want practicality, performance and strength in one affordable package, few cars will deliver like the Mk2 GTI and is easily the most practical and sensible everyday modern classic in its price range. Summary A genuinely outstanding highly collectable rare model, have a look about the various advertising platforms to source another sub 100k stock mint 3 door 16v big bumper car, there is not another, and that situation will only get bleaker. It is sure to be a continued appreciating asset as each year these rare models in original and outstanding condition become more and more scarce. Prices are already shifting even for tired cars, there is no comparable car to this in the market place at present, and no substitute for originality and proper care. £12,995 |
