Servicing & Bills - 30 Service Stamps - Full Paper History
Comprehensive paper spread start to finish with a complimenting MOT
history. The folder is thick with bills as pictured and is hugely
confidence inspiring. In fine working order, in preparation of sale I
have just given the vehicle a complete health check.

Originality + Other Information
This car has been maintained fastidiously by a RR Owners club member
for 20 years. A loss of storage following a move with only street parking
meant his car became available. It has an agreed valuation in access of
£10,000 with Footman James and its been to more Rolls Royce Rally's than
its had engine services. The owner was the company Director of Ashbury
service station in Manchester whom have a great understanding and sympathy
with vehicles of this vintage, and the chap was a real petrol head with
the Rolls was one of a few different exotic cars in his collection.
Covering little mileage, being lovingly stored and receiving pampered
attention throughout the tenure of his ownership. You may buy a cheaper
Rolls that will never be a patch on this, or a dearer one which will
offer no guarantee to be better. As with any classic purchase condition
is everything, and with a Rolls Royce condition and service history are
doubly important.

Recent Bills
The upkeep is everything, and this has been maintained with a virtual
open cheque book policy given the long term owner had considerable
facilities and expertise to hand. He owned the car for the last 20 years
and it has always been dry stored in his ownership. Some historic bills
are detailed below and currently there are no outstanding matters at
all. It had a service with every mot irrespective of the mileage but
the previous long term owner was trying to preserve the service book as
it was running out of pages. In 2012 he stopped stamping it, it has 7
of the 37 pages left to be stamped, though actually has had 4 other services
since 2012 so it should techincally have a 34 stamp history. It always had
a genuine RR filter as well.

The Silver Spirit
Replacing the highly successful Silver Shadow series, and the first
to even hint at the use of aerodynamics by the brand. It is the ultimate
expression of enhanced comfort and convenience, and as such is a great
devourer of distances. Much of what went into the earlier pre 66 cars is
still very much present in the Spirit, just a little easier to live with,
whilst being immediately recognized as a classic design in the Rolls
Royce tradition. The engine is the same biblical 6.8 litre pushrod V8
that served the Shadow and the Silver Cloud III before it. Pushing the
go pedal at standstill will elicit an antediluvian sound similar to the
rumblings of distance thunder. Tilt the indicator and its the same click
clack you heard in your grandfather’s clock. The penny drops the moment
you enter the car and look out over a long bonnet that seems as if it was
derived straight from the Silver Ghost. Climbing aboard the interior is
akin to stepping into the drawing room of a members only gentleman’s club
of a world long ago. All these acute experiences make every other so called
luxury car feel stupid and pointless by comparison.

Also comes complete with the complete chassis card details which is only
available for a fee as a Rolls Royce club member. The records give valuable
information about the car's original specification: they include the serial
numbers of original instruments and major sub-assemblies (so you can see if
anything has been replaced). You can check the individual requirements of
the original purchaser in every details, this runs onto over 60 pages..

The Drive
This Rolls drives faultlessly under way, sounds from wind and road barely
infiltrate. This model marks a hugely impressive feat in noise cancelation
engineering even by today’s standards. The vehicle is a delight to drive
sitting perfectly on all four corners and ensures that you, the driver,
are completely removed from the act. Every action feels like a request
rather than something you yourself execute. Expecting performance from
a Spirit is not only defeating its stately purpose, but it’s like trying
to get a rise out of a British butler, he’ll laugh politely but never
share in the joke. Its almost like having a polite middle man for everything,
whether it’s the long travel of the directional stalk, the friction-free
motion of the gear change lever, the ease with which you use your fingertip
to adjust the thin-rimmed helm or even the application of throttle, your
hope is that in each instance the desired result will transpire. A unique
experience.

Condition
Timeless lines, the wheel arches and sills are rot free, the body has no
panel damage or rust, the overall condition of the car is far better than
any others I have seen. You just cant find them this well looked after,
there are cheap ones out there but they will be nothing but trouble. You
can drive this straight away with no known issues, everything works even
the door mirrors and seats. The engine bay is clean and all fluids are
correct with no drips or leaks. All the door caps and dash in really super
condition as is underneath which has been waxoyled in real detail too. The
MOT history on this car is inspiring, it can be checked on number SKL 623W.

Cabin
The quality will remain long after the price has been forgotten. The
interior is overstuffed with wood and leather furniture. The Connolly
hide is thick. The deep pile carpeting gently caresses the soles of your
shoes, and the gloss of the box wood on burl inlays reflect a mastery of
craftsmanship. The Comfortable contoured power seats are just as comfortable
as your favorite armchair. A sumptuously luxurious interior with natural
grain leather and hand-tailored to perfection. Its hand-crafted veneers
rival that of fine home furnishings. The Silver Spirit leaves no room
for compromise – from the hand-sculpted radiator grille to its matched
veneers . It is Gorgeous and a true Rolls Royce.

Wheels/Tyres
Avon Turbospeeds all around, the definitive tyre of choice and they are
all matching and thick with tread. The Wheel finishers in excellent condition.

Summary
An opportunity to enter the classic car scene with a bang, and with a car
that impresses on every level. An glance at the recent market tells me that the
Spirit is at the bottom if its price curve, it has failed to move at any rate
if at all with values of other arguably far inferior models, which is surely
not a situation that will continue for much longer. The day will arrive when
a historic Rolls such as this will be worth a lot of money and this car
represents an opportunity to get in on the scene with a highly together
example with zero depreciation and perhaps a return even in the short term.
