The XKR
The fastest selling sports car in Jaguars history, eclipsing luminaries like
the XK120 and the E-Type. The XKR is beautiful & fast and its lines flow
like dark liquid in moonlight. You can buy other luxury touring coupes with
similar performance, but you won't find another that looks anything like this.
And that, really, is the point of any Jaguar. If you are charmed by its looks,
then there is no alternative. How old do cars have to be in order to be considered
collectible? Once vehicles hit that magic 25-year mark many consider them
collectible simply for having survived normal vehicular attrition. The XKR
is I we believe such a model worthy of collector status now, prices
are rising for good models with proper history.

Condition
Without a doubt the colour combo on this one is a sure hit. Given its 16 years
the paint is stunning with clear crisp finish, a shade that compliments the lines
of the XK so well. The original 18 " alloys are in excellent condition
with perfect finish and trademark Red centres this among the only slight cues
distinguishing the R model with discreet badging, grill & spoiler, the R sits
beautifully and is one of the most stunning cars ever penned.
Moving aboard the condition is first class in every direction, the seats have
no wear or stains or tears as you can judge from the many pictures. All in
perfect working order, every switch and feature. Wood and leather steering wheel,
cold working climate for the summer ahead, cruise, Jag hi-fi with boot mounted
changer, working electric aerial, fully electric seats, it does not really get
any more opulent than this. Original fitted carpet mats also.

Engine/Drive
The power in the engine is quite phenomenal, 370 bhp and boasts such flexibility
and seemingly endless airbus A380-style acceleration
Jaguar can do no wrong, the engine being a case in point. 0-60 5 secs en route
to a limited 155 mph. Demonstrates perfect power to weight ration with superb
balance landing it firmly on its feet. The 4.0-liter V8 with a supercharger
strapped on produces an unruffled power, coupled to a seamless a five-speed
automatic transmission. Driving the XK along twisty roads is wonderful. The
steering is very precise and provides good feel at speed. At the same time,
the steering remains light to the touch at low speeds, making driving around
town and in parking lots a bit easier. Handling is firm without being too harsh.

Mechanically
Superb in all respects with no outstanding issues. The service records are
impressive as pictured and pour into the thousands with some rather impressive
bills in many key areas as below. It has clearly been maintained to the highest
level with a commitment that is impressive for an early car. Its clear that
as used XKRs go it can be a minefield trying to source one that will give you
joy, you could spend double what this car will cost you and get a whole lot
less of an XK, Low mileage for year with full documented records.

Service Information
Comprehensive service records with original service booklet fully stamped
and I have just spent quite a few quid on it as a precautionary measure and
making ready for sale. I have a thick folder of bills neatly collated in a
large ring binder dating right back to day one including the original purchase
receipt when new. New & revised timing chain service kit just fitted by
Jaguar specialist, this includes new & improved latest metal generation tensioners,
forged roller timing chains & alloy backed timing chain guide rails. As
a result the engine is whisper quiet until prodded.

The history file is entire with a genuine thick folder of bills neatly sorted
in date order in a thick binder. A glean of the materiel reveals a car that has
been extremely well maintained, in fact the amount of money being spent has far
exceeded the worth of the vehicle, always a great sign. A summary of some of

Jaguar's XK makes a statement when it rolls onto the scene, considering when
the slopes and angles were penned, like the E type it was many years ahead of
its time. It remains one of the prettiest cars on the road and driving it is a
hugely satisfying experience, though arriving is its trump card. The XK8 and XKR
are legitimate successors to the classic Jaguars of the past and good examples
can reward their owners with thousands of miles of trouble-free use — if you buy
the right car.
